In RF, combat proficiency (pt) is the most important thing. The only way to gain Combat proficiency (pt) is to train what it is associated to.
To view your current pt levels, what you do is press the C button on the keyboard to bring up your character status window. The following is a screen shot of this window fully extended.
From top to bottom this window shows the following:
The first section shows your characters general info containing your name, race, gender, level, starter class, current class, rank, contribution points, and your guild.
The next section shows your current statistical information based on your level and items equipped, and any buffs you may have on at the moment.
The third section, labeled Ability info, shows your current Combat proficiency (pt) levels, this is what we are most interested in. I will come back to this in a moment.
Also under the Ability info section is crafting pt. Explaining crafting pt is somewhat out of the scope of this pt guide at the moment, and could be something I add on to in the future, but at the current time, we will just say its design is very similar in operation to skill proficiency pt. (which I will discuss shortly.)
The final section of the character statistic window is your characters current elemental resistance information based off the current equipment you are wearing and buffs you may have cast on you.
So as I said before, we are most interested in the third section, which contains Combat proficiency (PT). (It says “combat skill lvl” in the window, but to avoid confusion with skill pt I will simply call it combat proficiency (PT) from here on)
Short Range PT:
Popularly known as Melee PT or close range PT.
You gain this combat proficiency (PT) by using close range weapons (Spear, Axe, Knife, Sword, and Mace). Each successful hit will increase this combat proficiency (PT) statistic by a small amount.
As it levels up, it increases yor close range weapon attack power, and you can wield higher level close range weapons and armors.
Every time your character swings and hits (misses don’t count) an enemy (PvE mob, or another race) this statistic will increase by a small amount.
Long Range PT:
Popularly known as ranged PT.
You gain this combat proficiency (PT) by using long range weapons (Bows, Guns, and Throwing knives). Each successful hit will increase this combat proficiency (PT) statistic by a small amount.
